Joy Vey! A Kid-ish Shabbat with Musical Guest

10 May @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Our festive monthly Joy Vey! A Kid-ish Shabbat service for young families on Friday, May 10 at 5:30 p.m. features Matt Check, an accomplished singer-songwriter, guitarist, banjoist and producer of Americana, bluegrass, Jewish music and children’s music.

After almost 20 years in New York City as a Jewish educator and musician, Matt now serves as director of lifelong learning at Wise Temple in Cincinnati. He holds an MA in Education from the Jewish Theological Seminary (2008), as well as an MPA from Baruch College (2011).

Please join us for a playful and silly, yet peaceful start to Shabbat for the whole family! We’ll light candles, pray, sing songs, move and groove, and even practice mindfulness. We also embrace the tradition of blessing children as we make a joyful place for Shabbat in our lives and hearts… together. Meet us in the Madge Rothschild Resource Center on the second Friday night of the most months.

Matt’s visit is the first of four special musical programs that will be offered in the coming months during Joy Vey services thanks to the generosity of the Dr. Harry W. Salon Foundation. Musician Juliette Nehring will join us on two Shabbat mornings for young families on Saturdays, August 10 and January 11 at 10:30 a.m. Joanie Calem will join us on Friday, October 18 for Sukkot.
